la calorie is a quiet calorie counter. Each day starts with an empty jam jar sized to your daily budget, and every meal fills it a little.

Frequently asked questions
How do I set my daily budget? The first time you open the app, it asks for your daily budget. Type a number between 500 and 10 000 kcal and tap save. The jar appears once a budget is set.
How do I change my budget? Tap settings in the top-right corner of the jar screen, enter a new number and tap save. The change applies straight away, and today’s entries are kept.
How do I add calories? Tap the jar, type the number of calories and tap add. Only calories are recorded: no food names or macros. A single entry can be from 1 to 9 999 kcal.
How do I see what I’ve added today? Tap the numbers under the jar to open today. Entries are listed newest first, with the time each was added.
I typed the wrong number. How do I fix it? Open today, swipe left on the entry and tap remove. Then add the correct number again.
What happens when I go over my budget? The jar overflows: it fills to the brim, spills over and the cap slips off. The amount left shows as a negative number. You can keep adding entries.
When does the jar empty? At midnight, local time. Today’s entries are cleared and the jar starts empty again. Your budget stays the same. This works even if the app wasn’t open at midnight.
Can I see previous days? No. la calorie only ever shows today, by design.
Does la calorie collect my data? No. It has no account, ads, tracking or analytics. Your budget and today’s entries stay on your iPhone. See the privacy policy.
Important
la calorie is a simple counting tool, not medical or nutritional advice. Talk to a doctor or dietitian before making significant changes to what you eat, and when choosing a daily calorie budget.
